Information Visualization

We research data visualization techniques that transform complex data into visual representations, leveraging human cognition to discover hidden patterns and insights.

Human-Computer Interaction

We conduct interdisciplinary research to design intuitive and efficient interfaces, spanning user-centered design, usability testing, accessibility, and emerging interaction paradigms.

Applied Machine Intelligence

We apply AI/ML techniques spanning traditional statistical methods to deep learning, including classical ML, computer vision, NLP/LLMs, and multimodal AI systems.

Human-Centered

Design intuitive systems that enhance human perception, behavior, and experience

Data-Driven

Turn complex data into visual insights that support understanding and decisions

Application-Oriented

Develop AI-powered tools that solve real-world problems effectively

Interdisciplinary

Combine design, engineering, and behavioral science to tackle complex challenges

About Us

The Visualization, Interaction, and Semantic Intelligence Laboratory (VIS Lab) at Soongsil University is an interdisciplinary research group working at the convergence of human-computer interaction, information visualization, and applied machine intelligence. We advance visual analytics through the design of intelligent, human-centered systems that enhance data interpretation and decision-making. Our mission is to develop user-aware analytics systems that enable data-driven reasoning in complex, dynamic environments. Through active collaborations with academic institutions, industry partners, and public organizations, we bridge fundamental research with practical applications.
